Charles Kares is one of Australia’s most accomplished golf coaches and the Head PGA Professional at GolfSpace. A two-time NSW/ACT PGA Teaching Professional of the Year (2013 & 2020), Charles has spent more than two decades shaping the careers of golfers across every level of the game — from beginners to Tour winners on international circuits.

Charles began golf at 14 at Royal Canberra Golf Club and quickly rose through the ranks, playing off scratch by 16 and achieving a +3 handicap as an amateur. He captained and played #1 for the Royal Canberra Junior Pennant team, leading them to their first title in a decade with a sudden-death victory. He went on to win the Division 1 Pennant, compete in state and national championships, and claim multiple victories during his PGA Traineeship — turning professional with Distinction by age 25.

As a touring professional, Charles played extensively across Australia and Europe, completing 90 competitive rounds in his first year alone. This global experience became the foundation of his teaching philosophy: technical mastery, disciplined practice, and a deep understanding of how golfers improve under pressure.

Today, Charles is renowned for blending world-class technology — TrackMan, SAM PuttLab, high-speed video, K-Vest, TPI, and AimPoint — with a strong, personal, simple coaching style. He is also a Mizuno Golf ambassador and has learned from some of the world’s leading coaches, including Ritchie Smith, Gary Barter, Dr Kwon, Dr Robert Neal, and Richard Woodhouse.

His students’ success speaks for itself: course records, national titles, state team selections, scratch breakthroughs, professional tour victories, and major improvements across both men’s and women’s amateur and professional ranks.
